PANČ 2009: international stand-up comedy festival
In August of 2008 Panč, stand up comedy festival was born behind the walls of the castle Ljubljana. As the largest comedy festival in this part of Europe, in its first year Panč became one of the highlights of the culture happening in the castle, all three festival nights were sold out, and there wasn't a single media that didn't cover the event. Tremendous success drew the organizing group Komikaze even further, making them work hard to make the second festival even bigger, better, funnier and more attended than the first one.
From the 21st to the 23rd of August the castle Ljubljana will see 18 stand-up comedy acts being performed. Slovenian comedians will be joined by guests from Croatia, England and even New Zealand.
The performances will begin every evening at 9pm. In case of rain, there will be two shows per evening, the first beginning at 7:30pm, and the second one at 10pm.
Every evening after the festival activities, there will be an after party at the SubSub club (under the sports arena Hala Tivoli), where there will be an open mic opportunity, review of the festival, while the fans will be able to hang out with the comedians, exchange opinions and have a good time.
STAND-UP COMEDY
A sort of comedy in which the performer speaks to the audience through a microphone and amuses the attendees by telling them funny stories and jokes. The performer can touch any subject without limitations, and there is only one goal - to make the audience laugh.
PANČ
The name of the festival is the shortened term punchline. Punchline is a name for the last part of a joke, the key word, phrase or sentence, which is tactically placed and uttered in such a manner that it provokes laughter in the audience.
VENUE
In collaboration with the Ljubljana festival, the Panč stand-up comedy festival will take place at an elite location - Ljubljana Castle courtyard. The courtyard of the Ljubljana Castle is a venue which is pleasant to the eye and acoustically adequate. In such ambiance, stand-up comedy performances shine in their brightest for all the most positive attributes of this exceptionally amusing and relaxing genre float to the surface.

During last year's Panč stand-up comedy festival, the courtyard was packed with happy, laughing attendees. The venue entrance will open every day at 20:00 and the performances will begin at 21:00, except in the unfortunate case of the appearance of meteoric waters, in which case the first show will start at 20:00 and the second one at 22:00.
GETTING THERE
Due to the limited capacity of the parking lot on the castle hill, the audience is encouraged to walk up to the festival venue or ride the funicular railway.
